Blowing away the cobwebs

We all seem to be over the worst of the lurgy's thats kept us pretty much housebound for more than a week. Emy recovered from her tummy bug, then I started feeling unwell and at the same time Henry started with the tummy bug, Chris has avoided everything thankfully and has looked after us all when he has been home which has been a huge help after a day with a poorley baby, an all better and therefore energetic Emy when all I have wanted to do is go back to bed. Yesterday when we woke it was a bright blustery day and I felt we all could do with some much needed fresh air so we went to the park near where I grew up, I spent a huge part of my childhood in the park and having not been for a couple of years there were lots of things that had changed. We walked through the woodland part first before heading to the playground, as soon as we got there, the rain started but we managed a good 20 minutes before it started to get too heavy to play and we were all longing for the warmth of home. We walked accross the top of the park on our way out which has a great veiw of our city and was pretty much the same veiw I used to get out of my bedroom window when I was little, and then we walked round to Bishops House museum which was built in the 1500's. Here's a few photos from our day

New Moon fan event

What a day it was! I set off from home at 7am to get the tram to the coach station, the coach luckily wasnt busy so I had 2 seats to spread out a little on during the 4 and a half hours journey. I met my friend Shell soon after arriving in Victoria station and we went to go and have some lunch before setting off to Battersy park where the event was being held. We got there for around 2pm and started the long queing process, first we had to que to receive our ticket and wristbands, plus slips of paper to submit our questions to the cast, then once we received those, we then had to que to get into the event. At first it wasnt so bad, it was a bright dry day but as the sun started setting, the rain and wind started and we had a bit of a giggle saying how we were a bit old for this sort of thing and we were very much looking forward to a cuppa and a sit down lol We started making our way into the event around 4.30 and we realised we were heading towards the red carpet infront of all the screaming fans and awaiting press, walking down the red carpet was a very surreal experience indeed! Inside the event it was dimly lit with red lights and had the movie posters all around, we made our way towards the stage and sat on the floor with all the other awaiting fans. We got to see the cast of the film walk down the red carpet on huge screens and then the bands started, first to come on was The band of skulls followed by Magic numbers, both are on the movie soundtrack. As we were pretty close to the stage when the bands started we got squished into the middle of a huge group which after a while got uncomfortable so we squeezed our way out to the back and ended up having a much better veiw of the stage. Next the cast themselves came onto the stage for question and answer session which prompted much girly screaming lol We decided to make our way back to the station not long after the Q&A so we would be there in plenty of time for our travel home and we finally managed to get our cuppa :-) My coach home was at 11.30 and I spent a very uncomfortable 5 hours squished against a window as the coach was full. We had an amazing time and of course it was rather nice to see the lovely Mr Pattinson in person, im only 3 years older than him so it doesnt feel too bad to have a bit of a soft spot for him lol here are a few pics from the day

Please allow me to be a fan girl for one moment :-)

Last Wednesday I went to see my favourite band Muse in concert. My good friend Shell came up from Baldock to come to the concert with me and we had an amazing night, its my first time seeing them in concert and they certainly didnt dissapoint. I managed to take a few pics but most came out really blurey, I did get a couple of good ones though

Sunday morning I took my stepson James home as he had been staying with us for the weekend so while I was out I went and bought Emily's christmas present which is a wooden dolls house with all the furnature and wooden family dolls to go with it which I know she is going to love, After sneaking it into the house and then making lunch for everyone I checked my emails to find that I have won a competition. I entered an online competition last week to attend a fan party for the upcoming film New Moon my friend Shell posted the link to the competition on facebook so I thought why not, never thinking id win but tomorrow morning Il be heading off to London for the fan party with the cast of the film and also the bands from the soundtrack performing, to say im excited is a it of an understatement!

Anyway, fangirling out of the way I have been working on something I have had on my to do crafts list since last year and I have made my first Sock Monkey. He's not perfect, has one arm, leg and ear bigger than the other and the stitches arnt great but hey! I think he's cute and Im planning on making more to give as christmas presents

Halloween celebrations

We have had a few quiet days at home as we have all been full of cold and feeling pretty rotten, Henry's teething at the moment and has 3 big back teeth coming through all at once so is especially grumpy and its keeping him awake at night so I feel like Im running on empty just now. We managed to go along to a halloween party at one of the home ed group mums houses on Thursday, most of the group went along and Emily had fun making candy apples and playing in the sand pit in the garden, we didnt stay long though as Henry was really tired after a bad night previously and as soon as we got Home both he and Emily fell asleep. Saturday we baked some gingerbread biscuits and used our new halloween cutters, they didnt quiet manage to get decorated though and was eaten up fairly quickly! We made some Halloween playdough which I had intended to be pumpkin pie but I couldnt find anywhere to buy pumpkin pie spice so made a cinnamon one instead and we also made our own treats to hand out to any trick or treaters which in the end we had quiet a lot of and the treats which were chocolate pumpkins went down well. After a busy day making and baking we settled down together to watch my favourite Halloween film Pumpkin Moon and then we carved our own pumpkin after some tea

Build a Skeleton

Emily has been interested in bones for a while now so I thought this printable skeleton would be a great activity to do with her. Its comes with a little map to show where all the parts need to go and Emy did a great job at putting them in the right places

the final result. I taped the parts together and stuck it onto the living room door
